Siberia Bar

Siberia Bar
356 W 40th St
New York, NY 10019-6743
(212) 333-4141
Btw. 8th Ave and 9th Ave - Closer to 9th - only has red light outside no sign

Siberia Bar in its new space is larger, though the odor and atmosphere remains. While the drinks may not be the cheapest anymore (though the bottled beer is your best choice if low on funds) a friendly atmosphere and great jukebox (country, magnetic fields, motown, more). The art on the wall is mixed, but made for the place. There is a bike in the middle of it now as well. If you are not a jukebox person, go to the Bellevue around the corner for cheap drinks and a dirty dive. Note that this was reviewed in the night, and word has it this bar is more after hours, so the character may change the later one goes.

Decor (3/5) - Biker/Angry Art, a small bar, a couple couches, a photo booth and a wide open middle area

Crowd (3/5) - Tourists(!) and scattered other after work (!) people

Drinks (2/5) - The liquor is not cheap, and the beer is OK

Dive Factor (2/5) - Looks divey, smells divey, but not cheap drinks and an uppity crowd? Wha' happen'?
